MMV 1439 Guards Van

MMV 1439 Guards Van will form part of the exciting family friendly tourist attractions for the community and visitors to enjoy.

The relocation of MMV 1439 Guards Van from Bundaberg to Gayndah was funded by EDI Rail Workers, retired Queensland Railways Guard Alan Cooper, Jason Cooper and Jacque Mount.

Members of GHRRT wish to sincerely thank EDI Rail Workers, Alan, Jason and Jacque for their vision and commitment to our organization.

MMV 1439 Guards Van was the workplace of Queensland Railways Guards on the long distance passenger train the “Sunlander” between Brisbane and Cairns.

In addition to the Sunlander, MMV 1439 Guards Van also worked on the Great Northern Line (GNR) on the long distance passenger train the “Inlander” between Townsville and Mount Isa.

MMV 1439 is fitted with a Guards Compartment located in the centre and luggage compartments at either end of the Guards Van. A coffin chamber is also fitted to one end of the Guards Van.
